Sporting Event Management

I have been involved in the prestigious Royal Navy Winter Sports Championships for the last 8 years and have managed it for the last 2; an annual sporting event for around 1000 serving and retired Naval and Marine personnel in Tignes, France.    The role is all encompassing and my focus must be across all areas of the event from planning and implementation to delivery and follow up.  Key elements include the following;

  • Managing sales platforms which range from membership and competition registration, one-click packages (online sales) to bespoke solutions, usually communicated over the phone to VIP Event Sponsors and High Ranking Officers.

  • Accommodation purchase and planning.

  • Negotiation and arrangement of race pistes/pitches, licences and venue management with local suppliers with contracts of several years in mind.

  • Liaising with design and marketing departments.

  • Shaping the event direction and program and the subsequent implementation of an operational plan which will bring this to fruition across all categories of guests. 

  • Managing a budget of circa £900,000 across the event.

  • Working closely with the Royal Navy Winter Sports Association to ensure a successful sporting event is delivered with military precision.
